toddland has many strengths (comic book trivia). confucius, abraham lincoln, or ghandi said one of the greatest strengths is knowing what you cannot do. and knowing who can. we gots that too. when icons of surf (in san clemente) asked toddland to do a build out (we get a section of the store to play with), toddland knew what and WHO would be perfect for that. enter one kelly thacker.
she’s the senior graphic designer in charge of girls graphics at paul frank industries. not only that (which would be enough for anyone), but she is also an amazing artist (as her blog illustrates). toddland had the idea of building this little furniture frankenstein to hold and display toddland bounties, and asked kelly to decorate it. within 2 days, the furniture was transformed into art.
kelly painted that after being inspired by the of montreal song “everything disappears”. here’s the original painting from her blog.
look at the color pallette she went for. not only are these the colors unicorns dream in, but this is such a great photo of them.
another faboo detail is the cut out woodgrain contact paper. this is what it would look like if trees cried (maybe they need a hug).
